Bulky Waste Collection

Bulk Waste will be collected curbside for a charge of $75 per pick up. Payments must be made prior to collection at the Department of Public Works in City Hall or by mailing a check to Department of Public Works, Middletown, CT 06457. Acceptable items include furniture, appliances, mattresses, box springs, small amounts of wood or metal. Debris from large renovation projects is not acceptable. Brush is not considered bulky waste and will be picked up free of charge.  It must also be cut to 3' lengths and tied with string.

Curbside Bulk Waste Collection  and brush pick up is always suspended mid-October - late December.

The following items are NOT acceptable in the bulk waste collection:

  • Books
  • Plastics and plastic toys
  • Cardboard boxes
  • Paint
  • Hazardous waste
  • Grass clippings
  • Rugs
  • Electronics - televisions, computers, VCR, DVD, telephones, radios
  • Household garbage

Any items containing bed bugs must be wrapped in plastic.  Large plastic bags can be obtained from any furniture store, most department and hardware stores and online.
