Welcome to the Central Communications Web site! The Middletown Central Communications Center provides an enhanced 911 service for the City of Middletown and the Town of Portland. In addition to receiving 911 calls, this department receives all routine calls for police, fire, and emergency medical services, and we dispatch the Middletown Fire Department, South Fire District, Westfield Fire District, Middletown Police Department, Portland Fire Department, and the Portland Police Department. Click here to view our 911 Brochure and click here to view our 2007 Calls of Service and Calls received summary. The Center is located inside Middletown Fire Department Station 2, located at 169 Cross Street. We have been a combined 911, police, fire, and EMS dispatch center since August of 1999. In the Spring of 2004, all dispatchers underwent extensive training and became certified as Emergency Police, Fire, and Medical Dispatchers, utilizing protocols recognized worldwide. All calls received by this communications center are handled the same way – every time, allowing dispatchers to provide life saving instructions to callers in emergency situations. In the Summer of 2004, an updated 911 system was installed to provide a map utilizing the GPS from a cell phone to track callers so the dispatcher knows the exact location from where the call is being made. More enhancements to the department and the services we provide are always being developed. In case of an emergency, call 911. For all routine calls for service, call (860) 347-2541. For information about the department, contact (860) 343-8005 to speak with Chief Communications Officer Wayne S. Bartolotta or (860) 343-8013 to speak to Deputy Chief Communications Officer David A. Boyce.
